Lakeland Hair Salon Hosts Fourth Annual Hair for Hope
LAKELAND, FLORIDA— Michael Rose Hair Designs will host the fourth annual Hair for Hope on Thursday, Oct. 11, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Participants are sought to donate at least 8 inches of hair. The hair must be freshly washed and be free of hair care products. It must not be bleached, permanently colored or treated with any kind of chemicals, and it cannot be more than five percent grey.
Donors will get a free haircut and receive a $5 off coupon for their next visit. Last year about 50 people donated hair, and Rose hopes to exceed that number this year.
Donated hair collected during the event is donated to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, which makes wigs from it. Those wigs are given to women battling cancer via American Cancer Society wig banks located throughout the country. It takes about six ponytails to make one wig.
These wigs help women dealing with cancer to restore their self-confidence and make them feel a little more normal, Rose says.
For more information or to sign up to donate hair, call Rose’s media spokeswoman Lorrie Delk Walker at Lorrie Walker Communications, Inc.: (863) 614-0555 or email: lorrie@lorriewalker.com.
